Building bridges for the future through collaborative projects
Students and people in general tend to fall into one of the three categories; kinesthetic, visual, and auditory, as learners and they may switch depending on the situation. It is important to understand that every learner, learns a different way. Being able to understand the learning style of each student is helpful, so we can better assist them. 50% of students tend to fall into the kinesthetic category. A kinesthetic learner connects with their feelings, and moving helps them to learn. If they are able to take things apart, see how they work, and then put it back together, they have a higher rate of understanding the things they are working with. This follows hand and hand with makerspaces. Makerspaces is a place with tools and resources where students can go and create projects.
My plan is to create a video that persuades to schools the benefits of makerspaces and how it is best for schools to try to get into it. I think that with seeing students actually work and do hands on projects, teachers/administration are able to watch the benefits. With statistics appearing throughout from schools who have already tried, I am going to ask that my outsource video send footage of them trying new things and/or their opinion on makerspaces.
