The Global Educator, by Julie Lindsay

I believe we build empathy with others through connecting with people and seeing how they act, feel, believe. We understand how they are feeling, acting, believing because we have been there or know people who have been there. We build empathy when we meet new people by asking questions and finding things that we have in common with the other person. We relate to them when we find things that we have in common. When we meet people virtually we build empathy through the things we put out on the internet. Through common interests that we have and feel passionate about. I know that many people are not empathetic when it comes to the way of taxes or the things that they want. Many people do not think about others if it does not benefit themselves. I think it is always important to think of empathy and that people need to learn how to be more empathetic. Even myself. It is important to have empathy when collaborating with others because you have to think about the other person’s abilities, commitments, and necessities. You have to understand what the other person is going through so you can work with them, not around them.
