Building bridges for the future through collaborative projects
How do we build empathy when we meet people in person?
When you meet people in person you see a different side of them. We act different in person than we do on text. It helps us get to know people more and build empathy by talking to them and getting to know them on a personal level face to face. I find building empathy in person is better than doing it virtually for those reasons.
How do we build empathy when we meet people virtually?
When you talk to people online its important to ask how their day is going and what could've made it better. We need to ask people what they're going through to build empathy and understand them on a personal level. People love the thought of having people to talk even online. So we build empathy online by asking them and getting to know them.
What do you know and think about the need for empathy?
I think everyone needs empathy to know someone is there for them and they're not alone. Everyone deserves to have a shoulder to cry on. We need someones empathy so we can be able to see things from other peoples point of view. Empathy is important to people.
How important is it to have empathy in order to be able to collaborate with others?
We need to understand each other. Understanding each other plays a big role in being able collaborate. Empathy is just one way we get to know our partners on a personal level. When i'm feeling sad I want someone to talk to. So if i needed someone i could possibly go to one of my wiki partners.
What strategies are you using to build empathy in your cross-classroom, global team?
I'm going to be outgoing and let them know they can talk to me. I'm going to always be there for them. Then i'm going to try to see their problems from their point of view. I will try hard to understand them and not to give up on them when it comes to anything.
