Virtual communication?

Sure, I use it- every single day, for hours at a time. Back when I had time, it was mostly the on-board instant messaging system in most MMOs, but now it's just MSN. As for file-sharing, there's Limewire, not to mention the shared-folders system that comes with MSN. I've never used VoIP, but I know that more hardcore MMOers use it for faster and more convenient communication during team functions such as raids or guild wars, which is especially useful when the keyboard needs to be used at the… Continue

Wireless Connectivity

My topic is wireless connectivity. It is about technologies which use wireless technology to connect and interact with rest of the world anywhere, any time. Main forms of technologies which use wireless connectivity are Wireless LAN, bluetooth, cell phone networks, VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol.

My subtopic is Story and Empathy. It is basically about developing a mini story which relates and ties in the idea of wireless connectivity and how it affects people's lives. For me, I probably… Continue

Google takes over the World

i think that my topic Google Takes Over the World is about how Google is constantly expanding and how it is becoming one of the biggest online companies in the world. As Google has grown it has been able to buy other online companies for example youtube, therefore this has allowed them to earn more money through advertising and other means. I think that this is a good topic because Google is used by everyone all over the world and therefore it means that everyone has some experience of Google… Continue

Web 2.0 Tools for Sharing Information

I believe our topic is about how we should be promoting Web 2.0 tools. Web 2.0 has revolutionized the World Wide Web by adding new features such blogs, wikis, improved search engines and podcasts. New technology such as RSS can be used to communicate information around the world in seconds. Web 2.0 encourages anyone with a low-end laptop and internet connection to be creative on the internet. We should be promoting its use because with relatively little effort people everywhere could study and… Continue

Time for students to make contact on the wiki

As of this morning we now have 113 members of the Flat Classroom Ning. This is fantastic! Over the next week ALL participating students should have found their way to the Ning and set up a profile, communicated with their partners (and others!) and posted an audio introduction. Some students and schools are also posting some video material to introduce themselves. This is a great way to get to know each other and to see the local environment of participants.

One of the problems with… Continue

The 7 'Cs' for surviving the Flat Classroom Project

Connect

Your mission is to connect with your team members and the other educators involved in this project.

Connections will take place asynchronously as well as synchronously.

Some of your partners will be on the exact opposite side of the world

so real-time connections will be a challenge. However you must make the

effort to connect. That first contact and then follow-up messages are

so important for reassuring your partners that you are… Continue

The second half of the video will explain how it will positively and negatively affect us in certain ways, whether it be in Medical…
