Big Little Classrooms

1. Why do you think this Keynote is called 'Big Little Classrooms"?

I think it is called Big Little Classrooms because they are small classrooms in small areas doing big things with technology.

2. What are some of the technologies used by students at Hawkesdale to connect and communicate with people around the world?

They use notebook computers and different applications to communicate in real time with people around the world.

"Big Little Classroom"

This Keynote, in my opinion, was called "Big Little Classrooms" because these small classes around the world, are able to connect with each other through modern technology to make big changes in global collaboration.  Anne Mirtschin is one of these small classes that is located in Hawkesdale, Australia.  The modern technology that they use to connect and communicate with people around the world includes Skype, email, and blackboard collaborate software on their individual net books.  Mrs.…

Keynote Address Response

1. Why do you think this Keynote is called 'Big Little Classrooms'?

I believe this video is called 'Big Little Classrooms' because it demonstrates how an isolated group, e.g. the rural school in Victoria, can communicate and interact with others from around the globe. The school itself may be physically small; but through technology, it has opened new collaborative bridges and opportunities. The Keynote says it best: “the classroom is my world, but the world is my… Continue

Thomas Friedman Blog Post

I believe the most important point made in his lecture was what Jerry Rowell told him: "The global economic plainfield is leveling." I believe this is the crux of what the Flat Classrrom Project is about, and what The World Is Flat stands for.

The most important thing I learned in the video was not directly from Friedman's words, but from the observation of what he said. I learned that this world is leaning closer towards globalism.

This year in the…

Reaction to Flat Classroom Keynote

I think that this keynote was very insightful to my understanding of how much our world is becoming globalized.  The main topic of this keynote was very apparently, globalization.  With globalization, classrooms can get experiences from way outside the boundaries of their classroom walls.  Just from the Keynote, we can see how many different opportunities globalization presents us with.  We can experience what different cultures experience from our very own classrooms.…

First Meeting!

Hi everyone! :) I'm Ansley. Today we had our first FCP meeting. (Comment if you were there! We're the school near Snooki, haha.) We had to squeeze two classes into one room so it was a little chaotic, but I thought it was fun. I can't wait to talk to you all again soon! Bye.

Hello Video

This a video that me and my friends made for Language Arts Enrichment class last year. We had to reenact a scene from Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream". We all look really weird in the video because we did a spoof of the scene of a the play within a play. Enjoy!
