Living in China, I think that my daily life comes in contact with with the results of outsourcing. But whether we live in a country that jobs are being outsourced to, or a country that is doing the outsourcing, we are all directly affected by outsourcing. For example, American companies often do much of their product manufacturing here in China. Most prospective outsourcing countries are those with a low costing and large labor demand. A lot of what I read on the wiki about outsourcing… Continue

I am pleased and proud to announce the release of the 2007 keynote address for the Flat Classroom Project by Dean Shareski called 'Design Matters'. It is available on the keynote wiki page
and from this Ning here and in the video sidebar.
Dean has worked hard to make the topic of design and creativity alive for us all and I encourage you in your classrooms to watch the 12 minute presentation and discuss how the concepts… Continue

I think we will need to communicate more, have more of an understanding what the project is about what we are supposed to be doing.

Flat Classroom Project 2 taught us to navigate and evaluate the wiki page for our group.
I learned that:
- The first website was info.cern.ch/
- The bookmarking tool (del.icio.us) allows people to manage and see bookmarks within the wiki
- You can post videos and other multimedia on wikis
- The dial-up connection was the first method used in Bangladesh in internet connectivity
- You can add links within wiki pages that navigate to other ones to… Continue

I think the steps we need to take to improve the wiki are mostly disposing old information like old data from old projects like ' Bangladesh'.
Working on the video will be a slightly difficult from trying to contact people from the rest of the group, sharing ideas, and presenting them well. I assume people have already contacted each other which is very good. I hope to be working on the video this week since time is valuable and there are mor projects to be done!

Wikipedia was never meant to get this big. But... you never know. Now it has become an huge online encyclopedia that can be edited by pretty much anyone. We gather a lot of our information from the internet, and uploading is a huge part of that - look at Wikipedia, loads of information. Furthermore, to look at the big picture, its a give and take deal. As Thomas Freidman said, "We are no longer consumers but producers as well". We upload and provide information to the internet, but yet take… Continue

We've had a great time of getting acquainted over the last few weeks and we are getting ready to charge ahead.
I've noticed that there are some asking when do we ning and when do we wiki.
We created the ning to see if we could help the process of getting connected. Last year, many of our spam filters and firewalls were "eating" our e-mails and it was frustrating to connect, so the teachers created this space to help you connect and communicate.
However, remember… Continue

To create my project I will start thinking about the type of shots I will take and the outsourced clip I will need. I will communicate efficiently with my partner from Georgia and with my group through the Wiki. I will need to create a plan to follow for my video and will start to think about the script and where I will film.

I believe our project, design and innovation about the workflow software is about how the software has changed the way work is getting done around the world. From the wiki, I’ve read that over time, the compatibility of various computers and operating systems is becoming more and more important since I’m guessing more and more people are turning to the internet to receive and give information. Workflow software isn’t only used for companies, so we could also research how the workflow software… Continue

I believe that my topic is about how the world wide web has helped to connect the world and thus make the world a flatter place by getting people to use mediums such as firefox or internet explorer and other such browsers to help make documents and other such things easier to access. Also, websites such as google has features, available to google accounts, such as google docs that allow you to create word documents online. though other companies already have this feature, google has simplified… Continue

Sure, I use it- every single day, for hours at a time. Back when I had time, it was mostly the on-board instant messaging system in most MMOs, but now it's just MSN. As for file-sharing, there's Limewire, not to mention the shared-folders system that comes with MSN. I've never used VoIP, but I know that more hardcore MMOers use it for faster and more convenient communication during team functions such as raids or guild wars, which is especially useful when the keyboard needs to be used at the… Continue

My topic is wireless connectivity. It is about technologies which use wireless technology to connect and interact with rest of the world anywhere, any time. Main forms of technologies which use wireless connectivity are Wireless LAN, bluetooth, cell phone networks, VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol.
My subtopic is Story and Empathy. It is basically about developing a mini story which relates and ties in the idea of wireless connectivity and how it affects people's lives. For me, I probably… Continue

i think that my topic Google Takes Over the World is about how Google is constantly expanding and how it is becoming one of the biggest online companies in the world. As Google has grown it has been able to buy other online companies for example youtube, therefore this has allowed them to earn more money through advertising and other means. I think that this is a good topic because Google is used by everyone all over the world and therefore it means that everyone has some experience of Google… Continue

I believe our topic is about how we should be promoting Web 2.0 tools. Web 2.0 has revolutionized the World Wide Web by adding new features such blogs, wikis, improved search engines and podcasts. New technology such as RSS can be used to communicate information around the world in seconds. Web 2.0 encourages anyone with a low-end laptop and internet connection to be creative on the internet. We should be promoting its use because with relatively little effort people everywhere could study and… Continue
