Don Tapscott Chapter 8 NetGen Norms

My team trend is tablet computing and how you can customize it. Basically, everyone in my group researches everything on tablet computing and customization. Nothing is off limits. We can find the simple things like looking up the definitions of tablet computing/computers and customization. That alone can open up so many other windows for research. From there we can research harder questions like how to personally customize certain tablets and phones so…

My Reaction the the Don Tapscott Hey Moron video

This video was really cool! Though it was short, it made a very big impression. The first thing you feel is offended! I thought, "wow. Is this guy really serious about all this?" He talks about all the things that people claim are bad about our net generation saying that we are "stupid" and that we "steal" and are "addicted to the internet". But then he turns around and says that all of that was wrong! I thought it was cool when he said "You aren't the stupidest generation, you are the…

Net Gen Stuff

o I recently finished reading a chapter from Dan Tapscotts book Grown Up Digital and my reaction to it is that I agree with most of what he says. Dan says that kids today are more technologically savy than the older generations. I know when it comes to my parents my sister brother and I are more tech savy than my parents. My father has had a personal cell phone for many years and it took him almost three years to figure out where the space button was on his cell phone, so for three…

My Reaction to Don Tapscott

While watching his video "Hey morons" he says that we're morons because we are starting to getattached to technology when we're actually the smartest generation because we can work technology better then people who were born in the 1900. Like mt grandpa sometimes needs help figuring out how to work my computer or the TV sense we have Comcast. So I kind of agree that most of us are losing connection to being social but some of us actually are still being…

Yes, there is a clear demarcation between who you are as a person and who you are online.A person can create a completely different life online. For example a Elementary school teacher could say that they are a biker.  Also the dangerous side of that is a 76 year old abductor could say he is a 15 year old teenager and he wants to be friends. If a person is like sure lets go to burger king then the abductor would kidnap them. So there is a difference. An online profile could be just a made up…

Mobile Apps

Mobile apps are very covenant. We use our mobile apps on our phone for entertainment. The mobile apps allow people to play games with out using a game system. Mobile apps are more convent then a computer. the advantages of Mobile apps are it is lighter, u can carry it in your pocket, and can use them on the go. one of the disadvantageous is that there is a higher chance of it getting wet can be easier.

Response to keynote

1.) Is there a clear demarcation between who you are online and elsewhere?

Yes, there is a clear demarcation between who you are online and elsewhere. Whenever you are behind a computer screen, it is much easier to say or do things that you would not normally do in real life because you will not have to be face to face with people. For example, it is much easier to bully people online than in real life. People get much more confident and bold when it is just them…

Netgen Norm Analysis

" People become defensive when threatened by something new and which they don’t

understand". That is the sole reason that our generation is criticized. We are the Net Gen and our critics do not see the bright future that we have. Our values have changed and the older generation does not want to accept it. I believe that Tapscott is correct to try and learn to use technology everyday like most of us teenagers and children do. " To them,…

Student Leader
Don Tapscott's video "Hey Moron" reaction

While watching Don Tapscott’s video called “Hey Moron” I was very upset about what he had to say.  He talked about how we were the dumbest generation, because we are on the computer a lot and we learn through the internet.   Since we spend most of our time on the computer we are losing our social skills, but I do not agree with that, because when we are on the computer we are often of social networking websites.  We are on Facebook , Twitter, or even YouTube.  We are communicating through…

Student Leader
Don Tapscott's NetGeneration

It’s amazing to see some of the things that we take for granted. Growing up with technology all of my life, I never really appreciated its incredible development until some product was innovated in some way. Soon enough, the “new” product would become old and outdated, and I, along with my peers, would cease to be amazed and just wait for the next best thing. What was once a step forward in our culture became an outdated piece of machinery- junk. We took it for…

Reaction to: Hey Moron Video

At first, this video caught me off guard.  I thought that when Tapscott stated that we are the dumbest generation, I thought he was serious!  I was about to turn my attention away, but then he said we are actually the smartest generation.  I thought that it was a good way to start the video because he was saying what all these critics think.  When he said that the critics were wrong, and our future was not hopeless, it made me feel better about all the critics trashing on our generation.…

Don Tapscott's Video

Don Tapscott's video talks about how he thinks that we are the dumbest yet smartest generation. He says that we are the smartest because we have figured so much stuff out, and how to change the worse. This is bad but it is also good because it means that we can figure just about anything out but it is bad because we don't want to be classified at the "dumbest" generation due to the fact that we are high in technology.

Question Reflections: Blogger

The first question in this assignment was "Is there a clear demarcation between who you are online and elsewhere?"  This is definitely a great question. The answer is yes. Even though it's sad to admit, everyone seems to be a different person online, even if it is ever so slightly. With my friends I am able to be open and not have to filter myself too much. On the internet, you always have to be wary about what you say and how people take it. It is very important to…

Chapter One: Don Tapscott

Chapter one of Tapscott’s talks about the book he wrote about how his kids are messing with the new technology of this Generation. He founded a company called Genera that researches the youth on the internet. Tapscott talks about how we are considered the “growing up digital” generation, which he explains as, the Net Generation. He then goes on to say how we have outnumbered the boomers generation. He also then talks about how the generation’s now are a lot more knowledgeable and more…

gen 1

I agree with what he is saying because we are the technology generation.  My parents, I’m sure, are not the only parents who ask their daughters or sons for help on while on the computer.  Now some of us know more about computers, phones, etc.  than others so we can help better.  If you asked any student/child from the generation about something that has to do with technology then they would be able to most likely help you with your need.  I also agree because in this day and age we…

Reaction to Chapters: From Blogger

think that this book has a certain point to it. Tapscott is saying that we are the next generation and that we are the ones who are coming into power after our predecessors. Tapscott is not saying that my generation using technology is necessarily a bad thing, but that we do need to worry about what we do.

I know that with me, I have my cell phone with me at all times. It is glued to my hand or my hip or in my pocket. Even if I am talking to someone or just…

Growing up Digitally

I thought this was interesting because some people believe that the interenet can be very useful and helpful while others thought the internet can be hurtful towards peoples learning abilities. This describes the two very opposite opinions on this topic. One person was telling us how we are becoming a lazy, fat, unuseful generation of people. While the other guy was incouraging us on how we use the internet and how we are cool. I thought it was cool how he described that we can just…
