Hello, I'm Emily Mahon, a current student at Athens State. I'll be graduating in December with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education with a minor in Educational Technology. I'm excited to be advising students in this project and deepen my understanding of their topics and of the flattened classroom project.

Hello! My name is Haley Brown and I am currently a student at Athens State University. I plan to graduate with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education in fall of 2017. It have been a life long dream to teach little ones and watch their minds grow. My main goal as a teacher is to enrich as many lives as I possibly can with a positive impact. I look forward to working with students from around the world on this project. This is something new to me but something that I am very excited about helping with. I look forward to working with all of you! I'm here to help!

Hi, my name is Brittany Griffin. I live in Fyffe, Alabama and go to school at Athens State University in USA. I will be graduating with my B.S. in Mathematics and minor in Education Technology in May 2015. I then plan to go and get my Masters. My goal once I have completed my Masters is to find a job teaching math in a community college. I am very excited to working on this project with my classmates and other people from around the world. I hope that I can take everything I am learning from this and put to use in my classroom one day.

Hello, my name is Laura Callis. I'm from Athens State University in North Alabama, USA. My undergrad minor is Education Technologies, and am participating in this project under the direction of one of my instructors, Mrs. Janice Newlin. I am excited to see how a project like this works in practice as opposed to "in the book" and look forward to talking and working with you all in the weeks to come.

Hello!  My name is Diane Trout and I am a student at Athens State University under Janice Newlin.  I am an elementary education major (K-6) with a minor in educational technology.  I am 32 years old and have a husband and 2 children, Aidan, who is 9, and John Bryan who is 10.  Having young children, I see how much they love using technology and I feel it is important to utilize it in school because they are going to be facing it in the workplace.  They need to be aware of how to properly use it.  I am looking forward to this project and helping students.

Hello, I’m Janice Newlin and I am an instructor for ED 408: Issues and Trends in Educational Technology at Athens State University, Athens, Alabama, USA. I have over 17 years classroom experience most of which I’ve integrated technology in my curriculum. I have experience training pre-service and in-service teachers how to integrate technology into their own curriculum as well.  I believe technology is a tool for students to become the creator of their learning and to engage in deep and higher level thinking. My pre-service teachers and I are very excited about being a part of the Flat Connections Global Project as Expert Advisors. We are confident we will learn as much as the students we assist!

Hello Mbarek et al. I am teaching English in Japan but will be teaching social studies in an American School in Alexandria, Egypt next year and will be incorporating Flat Connections programs into our curriculum there. I am participating in this expert advisor role as an opportunity to pursue my own professional development. I am interested in further development, so any feedback on the programs you have pursued is most welcome! Good to see this talented and diverse team coming together.

Hi Laurie, thanks for joining us! Yes, Dan Pink in a Whole New Mind opens our eyes to alternative approaches to learning. I also suggest you read Open by David Price as this is another main influence for this project now.
