Hello there everyone! My name is Jennifer Sims and I am taking a few classes at Athens State University to get re-certified in teaching. I used to be a Chemistry and Aerospace Science teacher. I graduated from Athens State many, many years ago.  We definitely did not have "global classrooms" back then!

When I'm not working at my current job, I enjoy being outdoors whether it's hiking or just lounging around outside.  I love playing music and singing as well.  I have very spoiled dog that doubles as my only child!

I am looking forward to working with everyone on here.  I will admit, I'm nervous, but I'm more excited about what the coming weeks bring. I can't wait to learn about "flattening" my world and helping students through this project!

Great Day Global Leaders,

My name is Robin Ruiz. I am a student at Walden University working on a PhD in Education in Learning Instruction and Innovation. For my last specialized course called Innovative Curriculum, I want to partnerup with classes around the world.  I currently work as a Special Education teacher in middle grades 6-8 as an inclusion facillitator and resource science teacher. I am an artist, avid reader, love all genres of music, and I am passionate change maker. I have four fabulous children, all graduated college and successful ( the youngest graduated last year).

I am researching transition pathways for students with cognitive disabilities. For my Global  community I would like my middle grades science students to engage with other students on health and nutrition. We are interested in what other students are doing to protect their health because of the alarming rate of childhood obesity and diabetes affecting children across the globe.

If you are interested, we would love to meet you.

Comment by Jovana Combs on April 11, 2016 at 11:43am

Hello everyone! My name is Jovana Combs. I attend Athens State University. I am pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. One day, I hope to be teaching first graders. I have previous teaching experience teaching three year olds and four year olds. I learned then that children are the funniest comedians. They can take mundane everyday events and turn those events into the funniest moments.

I am looking forward to this project because it allows me to teach beyond the classroom. I hope that I can provide students with new insights. More importantly, I am excited to learn from the students.

Comment by Tiffany Guin on April 8, 2016 at 12:57pm

Hi, I am Tiffany Guin. I am a student at Athens State. I am a Collaborative 6-12 major and will graduate May of 2017. I am very excited to get to advise students in this project. So far all of the things I have read and seen from those involved have been amazing.
